JQuery Tools: Smooth JS widgets

Does your web site design have a lot of widgets like tabs, overlays, scrollable etc., to be implemented? Do you want to design and implement smooth looking sites with out using flash? Do you want to improve the UX on your site?
If your answer is yes for any of these questions then JQuery Tools is probably worth taking a look at.

JQT is a family of JQuery plugins comprising of the most common widgets used in “modern” sites.  We’ve used quite a few of the widgets on our sites in the last 3-4 projects and it  has certainly helped us improve the look and feel of these sites – with much less effort that what would have been required otherwise.

Installing and using JQT on your site is also super simple.  Download a JS file of ~6kb and include in your web page.  The documentation and demos provided for each widget is excellent – so you should be on your way to actually getting stuff done very quickly after the download.

Bottom line – you’ve got pretty much no excuse, to not check it out :-) .

I wonder why you make your own website on wordpress when you stress so much on the fact that you are basically a Ruby/Java company. Also Userthoughts gives me some server error. Wonder how is that?

Thank you for your comment, Saurabh.

As regards your question on Wordpress, I'm curious as to how you got the impression that we're biased towards any platform. Yes, we like Java and Ruby more - because they're better languages to code in.

But we try and use tools which serve our objectives better. Wordpress, is I believe, a very good example of a highly usable product. And to that end, it has served us very well. In addition, there's also a great community out there that supports it.

We bought our theme from WooThemes and are quite happy with the overall look and feel our site. And we've received positive feedback to that effect as well.

If we're able to build something like this in a few weeks from scratch to completion using Wordpress with just one developer, without involving a professional designer, its obviously a good bet.

As regards UserThoughts, I'm sorry you got the error. Can you please write to "support@userthoughts.com" with details, so we can help you out? Thank you.

Saw the problem you reported on UT. Didn't expect the entire app to be down. Should have checked. Will update here, when the app is back up.

I wonder why you think Ruby good as a scripting language. I always think Perl is much purer and Python more powerful than Ruby.
I tried a lil bit of ruby but i realized I am better off with Python.

    Hi Rahul,

While I can provide a few reasons of the cuff, I doubt I can be as comprehensive as Hal Fulton [Author of the "Ruby Way"]. In the interest of keeping things DRY, here's an article that gives 37 reasons :-) http://rubyhacker.com/ruby37.html

The UT site is now back up. Thank you, again, for reporting the problem, Saurabh.
