G1 is our Linux evangelist. And Ubuntu is his favorite flavor. All Linux related admin tasks somehow gravitate towards him, and he jumps at the opportunity to fix them every single time. The other thing he does often, is remind us that Java is a platform, not a language. Scala is his current interest, but he’s quite proficient in Jython and Groovy too.
What makes G1 indispensable is his capacity to objectify the most “sticky” of situations. Asking the right questions and breaking things down, when the going gets tough, is something he’s very good at.
The cherry on the pudding is G1’s contribution to the UserThoughts recorder [the heart of our product]. If not for his never-give-up attitude, UserThoughts would probably have been non-existent.
Most importantly though, it is G1’s integrity, compassion and positive attitude that makes us want to work with him.
